My band rehearses about once a month,rarely more than that. We learn the tunes at home,then get together to work out any arrangement changes we might want to make,and work on vocals if needed.Otherwise,its gigging every weekend.

Rehearsals +Cover Bands (not equal) Success?

Let me ask all you cover band guys who claim to never rehearse a question. How do you arrange the vocal harmonies in your cover tunes?
Or, do you just blow them off and only sing the lead parts?
Or, are you all such good vocalists that you can just show up and know who's going to sing which harmony part and then have them all blend together perfectly on the first take (live in front of an audience)?

That's actually a great question. For songs with specific background vocals (like "Feel Like Making Love," for instance), we have agreed on who sings the "middle" harmony and who sings the "high" harmony. I failed to mention that harmonies are one of the things that we work on in our infrequent rehearsals.
Also want to say...I don't think rehearsals are bad at all-I just happen to have a gig where we are playing a lot of dates and have not had a lot of opportunity to schedule rehearsals (but continue to play good gigs and continue to get re-bookings). Are there things we need to tighten up? YES!!!
