Gasoline came from the title of a song on the first Audioslave album that has some killer bass drive going on - the whole album does for that matter, and it's always served as a benchmark for me in terms of overdriven bass tones.

Here's a cheesy mockup of the pedal graphics. Some of the controls/functions have changed but you get the idea. Oops, looks like it got posted above.

Are both those demos using a pick?

Throughout both of them I alternate back and forth between pick and fingers. There's a lot of dynamics to the drive so it can be really bright and aggressive with a pick and then smooth and vintage using fingers without changing settings.

I need to do some shorter videos with more typical (lower) drive and blend settings - these were done quick in between getting home from work and dinner before the kids start to unravel!


Edit: I pulled the second video because I don't think it was as good of a representation of the tone as the first one. Will try to do another one through the other cabs soon.

Turning up the Octane control boosts the overall "presence" without making the overdrive fizzy. Higher Octane settings (lets say noon and beyond) in conjunction with low overdrive settings brightens the tone up and brings things forward in a pleasing way. At moderate and higher gain settings, it bit brings a harder, more modern tonality to the overdrive character for the more clanky tones, but they still sound meaty without excess fizz. Higher Octane settings sound really nice with the mix dialed back at bit, in the 10-11 o'clock range.
