Last night, I decided to plug in my G&L L2500 into an Ampeg B-1 with new JJ tubes I had installed on Saturday. Previously over the weekend I played it with a Peavey T-45 and it sound phenomenal, so I thought I'd give it a go with the G&L. No matter what I did, I could not get the tone and sound that I was looking for. Whether I was tweaking the EQ or the pickups it all sound bright and just plain off.
I plugged the Peavey back in and it sounded great. I don't understand it all. So I felt experimental and plugged the G&L into my SVT II pro and it sounded great. Then again it was SVT, right? I plugged my SVT IIP into a power amp and turned the mid section to 2 and it sounded great again. I just don't get it.
Has anyone ever experienced that type of change with different amp or bass? Sometimes you can try out one or the other and end up getting a totally different vibe or experience.
