RELATIONSHIPS SUCK

You'll be OK takes some time hang in kid. Hate to sound macho but the best way to get over it is to get out of the house and find a rebound girl.. Just whatever you do DO NOT GET DRUNK when you are looking.

They get harder when you're older. Enjoy how easy this is now. later.

That's not necessarily true. That's like teachers telling kids that once they're out of high school, the best years of their lives will be behind them.

P.S: CBNJ: Rebound with one of her friends. Nothing's funnier than watching a girl that broke up with you get jealous and pissed off. :D

I'm about to get married to an awesome girl I've been with for five years and have known for about ten years. My relationship rules.

Pro-tip: if your relationship sucks, you're with the wrong partner or you're doing something wrong.

It's official: I just met her tonight for the last time. She said the reason she is ending it is because she kissed a guy at the bar last night, and that she can't promise it won't happen again. She suggested a break, so she could get it out of her system, I said no. Her mom and others even thought she should hide it from me. I only got it out by prying and then she started sobbing saying how she's so sorry she hurt me. That hurts a little more than a breakup!

I know what you're saying. I did try to do that stuff with her, but it never seems to be enough. If we do it once a week, she wants to do it twice a week. One drink, she wants me to have two.

Definitely not going to fight for the relationship and try to change her feelings, I did that with my first major one and that was a MESSY breakup.

Sorry to hear the news.
Plenty of fish in the sea, homie.

At 22, you shouldn't even HAVE a girlfriend, for God's sake!

Play the field. Have FRIENDS. Meet people. Do NOT get serious. Be safe, and be smart. The more you get the heart broken, the tougher it will be when it heals. LIVE for God's sake! LIVE!

Am I right? After almost two years, my girlfriend decides that she wants to be able to go out and have fun and not be tied down. Do I steer into it and tell her that she's right? I know that if I try to talk her out of it, that won't have a good ending.

She's the kind of girl that will complain that we don't go out to the bar enough to have fun and socialize. When we're out if I have a drink, she's mad that I don't have another one. She's also the one that brings her alcoholic friend out to the bar..

I don't understand girls. Guess it's time to start dating women. :smug:
I don't think you should get stuck on staying with one girl for one length of time; I think you should just think of it as one period of time with one person to another. You'll be happier thinking it doesn't have to last. Or at least that's my mind.

You seem to like not just getting a "piece" of a person through being in a relationship; I think girls would respect that.

Been there, done that.

We started dating when we were each 20. I was a business major and she was an education major, both going to the same school in Pennsylvania. As an education major in Pennsylvania, she couldn't be caught drinking or ruin her entire career before it started since she wouldn't be able to teach EVER with an underage drinking citation.

I turned 21 and enjoyed that I could go to the bar whenever I wanted and have a drink or two. No longer had any desire to binge drink since I was no longer at the mercy of someone else buying for me.

Two weeks later she turned 21 and spent the next six months catching up on all the partying she missed out on. She went from being the responsible one in the relationship to a drunken slob.

We were going to move in together after graduation, but she started realizing I was ready to settle down and she just got the freedom to party to her heart's content and started picking fights over little things trying to get me to break up with her. Instead, I wanted to work through it.

That just dragged everything out. Made the breakup worse and we're exactly where we would've been if I didn't fight. She had made her decision and nothing I could do would get her to change her mind.

Sorry man, she's already gone. There's no changing her mind.

In a few years you'll look back on this and realize the bullet you dodged. I know I do.

Wow, sorry dude. Better now than later.

After my breakup of the same caliber, I decided to concentrate on living my own life. Doing what *I* wanted without anyone's input. I started scuba diving and other crazy things my ex would have nixed.

Live the life you want to live now. You'll meet some incredible people during the process. Hopefully one of them is cute and single too ;)

What does she mean but not being tied down?

My gf and I go out together a lot, but we also go out separately, and I think that's a great thing. Nothing wrong with going out without your partner (as long as you still go out together too other times) and drinking and having fun...
Of course, all this by remaining faithful. You don't need to get into stuff with random strangers in a bar to have fun drinking with your friends.
From what you said, could it be that she likes to go out more than you do and you object to her going out without you?

She does like to go out more than I do. I never said anything about her going out, never tries to stop her. Her main argument was that she is young, it's the time of her life where she should be going out and drinking and having fun crazy nights. The part about the cheating and not being able to control it, and needing to get rid of the urge was a real killer. Trying not to think about it, but I am!
