I don't know as I have heard that they over engineer their amps. But I still wouldn't want to find out.

I would never recommend operating an amp below its minimum rated load. Why would you want to risk damaging a perfectly fine amp by doing so?

I wouldn't ... but I was not sure what the answer would be as to how serious that extra load would effect the head... So I asked ... Now that I know it would matter ... ;) . Like many I was also not sure how "over enginineered" any head might or might not be ...... or even if that is a thing that happens in the Industry any more...

It was never really true, with a few moderate exceptions.

Nice choice! :thumbsup: I use mine for everything. I have mine in the older-style chassis, but still with Mk-ii preamp and poweramp boards. Here's a shot of it sitting comfortably on-stage after sound-checking, but before doors last weekend. :bassist:

I have a Mesa SubD-800+, WD-800 and a Fender Rumble 500. the Mesas are awesome and never to be sold . The Fender kicks ass too, it has tons of headroom and great tones for pretty cheap ( stay away from the distortion section though .. kinda MEH ).I have had Traynors . Canadian made tough as nails at a good price but not so workable tone-wise ( IMHO they're bland and overly honky)Can't go wrong with a Rumble 500 head ...(the cabs are boomy but the Mesa HPFs tamed them.) A lot of great choices .. good luck

I had used a Peavey Tour 450 for years and it was a great amp and through the 6x10 cab I had at the time it sounds great and had a lot of options to make pretty much whatever tone I needed. They also make a 700w option of the same amp, just make sure you get one of the 700's that has already had the factory clip issue fix or be sure to get the clip problem fixed.

I mentioned before in this thread I have been using the GK MB-800 fusion for the last year. It unseated the Mesa Subway D-800+.

Well I just pulled the trigger on a GK MB-500. For rehearsals, small gigs and general all around backup.

I haven’t tried them all but I’ve been around the block a few times. GK beats em all for me.

Awesome, congrats! I know you mentioned a Barefaced Eight10 earlier... do you actually have one?

I can't even imagine the damage a cranked 1001RB-ii through an Eight10 could do...
