Double Bass Remic

Does anyone have some experience with the Remic studio/live? I am especially interested in the reproduction of delicate arco passages...

I am blending my DPA Mic with a pickup but I heard that the Remic alone is kind of offering the same results...?

I have both.

The Remic Red DB 5400 is an exceptional microphone for recording and can be used for live playing provided the overall volume of the ensemble is moderate. Since it has a Omnidirectional capsule, it’s difficult to use in a jazz quartet or quintet. The Remic Green 5400 LB was designed for that purpose. It’s more difficult to EQ but it has better feedback rejection and gain. You really need a great preamp to EQ either of the Remic’s I’m using a Grace Designs Felix.

What Ric said. I've replaced my DPA 4099 I've been using for several years (alone - no pickup) with a Green. I've been completely satisfied with the sound and it can work in a much higher volume situation and remain consistent. Tons of compliments on the bass sound from audience and band mates. The 4099 sounds better in the studio when overdubbing, but not by that much. I'll spring for a Red at some point if business picks up, but find I don't really need it. It is indeed a bit fussy to EQ initially, but easily dealt with using a Grace Felix. I found once I set it up at home, I hardly ever futz with it at a gig.

Playing in not "too loud environments" I'm really happy with my Red Remic and the Felix for pizz and arco :) If it gets louder, I complement it with the Ehrlund PU and withdraw more or less the Remic, which is also a really fine combination... :)
The Remic comes near to an really good condenser mic like for example a Brauner Phantom Classic, but it's much more straightforward in use.. especially in live situations.. for my ears and experience..:)

@LaFaro01 interesting, I also use the Ehrlund, was wondering how it works with the remic.

Thanks guys, that matches well to what I heard so far. I think I'll give it a try. I played one shortly in very bad conditions but I guess I need to check on stage how it really works.
