Removing rat fur changes cab tone?

I have a pair of aguilar gs112 and Im planing to replace rat fur with truck bed liner or fender style tweed.
Is this going to affect sound in any way?

No, no tonal difference.
But based on what others have written, be prepared for a lot of work to remove the rat fur and glue.

Only if the cabinet is so poorly made, that the panels vibrate or buzz.
I very much doubt this with Aguilar cabs.

Im not expecting cabs to sound better, but at least to looks nice.

You'll be able to hear the cabinets better after the change, due to less derisive chatter from the crowd.

I did the same w/ an Ampeg cab. Although I heard horror stories about removing the rat fur, it was easier than I expected.

I had a cat who tried to remove the rat fur from a cab; then I had ratty rat fur and cat fur. The only solution was to sell the cab and be done with it.

I loaned a friend a rat fur 210 once, and it turns out his cats actually removed about an eighth of the rat fur.

We used to use Bic single blade razors to keep SKB furry cabinets looking neat. It barely worked.

To remove rat fur without a flamethrower, you need an old-fashioned cutthroat razor and some shaving cream. Time consuming maybe, but less risk of fire.
