)
Hard to believe The Bossman over at Turner Guitars left us three years ago last week. I happened to catch this little tribute to his memory from Lindsey Buckingham, who received the very first Rick Turner guitar ever, Model One prototype #3, and played it until he finally wore the poor thing out.
Long live the memory of a fine guitar-maker.

Not sure if @Feral Cat is part of our group here or not, but if you're lookin', they got a nice one here. And I ain't 100% sure, but it looks like a mahogany body core to me, versus the usual ash.

Quoting myself here, from deeeeeep in our thread. I was telling RV the other day, that I could only recall one other blue Turner Electroline. Interestingly, this one appears to have an ebony fingerboard as well.
Played the model 1 at a gig today, wonderful sounding bass

Just a little public service announcement for all uh y'all... there's a vintage Electroline 434 at Willie's. It's got the old-school 'diamond' pickup and a piezo bridge. Ebony fingerboard is a replacement by Turner, with documentation.

The Boss @Rick Turner Guitars would have been 82 years old today... thanks for the music tools RT... and for the daily inspiration in my own shop. 
My Renaissance fretless 5 has started making random static noises, with different amps and cables, and in different buildings. I've tried changing batteries and using contact cleaner here and there but no improvement, has anyone else had this? It's an older bass (2002).

Static, no. Mine picks up a cellular phone though, anywhere near it. Is it related to the pots or jack?
(asking, because replacing those pots is a trick...)
Most likely a dry solder joint or failing cap. It's from before they had D-Tar preamps. The pots are going to have to come out anyway so we'll see if my archtop rewiring skills are any use
Is the 1/4 jack secure? I also had the tip of the 1/4 plug touching things inside and creating crackling noises, which I resolved by repositioning (bending) the jack clips to keep it in the proper place. Other than that, maybe exercising the pots (turning them all the way clockwise and counterclockwise) about 100 times to scrape off any oxidation.

The pots are basically inaccessible given their location and pretty much zero access (not at all like a typical archtop, I believe, going by the two I used to own - '00 RB5-FL and '05 RB4-FL). I have an older Ren fretless 4 (headstock serial number says 97 493, so I'm guessing it's a 1997 build). I'm pretty sure this predates the D-Tar preamp.

With a semi-hollow or similar where access is tight you tie cotton or string around the pot shaft before pulling it out, then use the string to pull the new pot back into position. Of course if the string comes off halfway through you have a problem
I once took half a day getting a 335 harness back in after the string method failed, but I got there.
This is what my preamp looks like, I reckon I could fit a D-Tar in the space but how easily depends if the pots are compatible.

I believe that is the old "Timberline" tray. You might just call the shop and ask. I hear they turn work around very quickly.
