Replace drivers in Hartke VX215

Here's what I got:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I love this cab...for what it was...but I want it to be better. It is the perfect height and weight for my gigs. At 75 pounds with two 15's, and a tweeter...its fairly easy for me to schlep around, and has a small footprint. What I would love to do is gut the cab and put 2 new Neo 15's in it and a 6" mid in place of the buzzy tweeter...but I would need a crossover as well. Want to keep it 4 ohms as well. It is 40"x27"x16" to give you a rough idea of its volume. Any ideas? what would you load it with? Im curretly thinking about two Kappalite 3015's and an ALPHALITE 6A-CBMR for mids..what to do for a crossover though? in other words; WWTBRSDO?
(aside from telling me to buy a LDS cab ;))
Or should I even mess with the crossover and mid since both the 3015 and the 6A-CBMR both top out at about 4K?

You wouldn't be required to use a mid w/ the 3015...the benefit is in off axis response. If you do use a mid you may be better served using the 3015lf and yes you will need a crossover in the 800-1000 Hz range. Also, the alphalite (100db for the closed back) is not going to give even sensitivity with 2 15's (101db each -> 107db combined). The 18 sound is closer at 102db, but still a little short.

The simple option is to put two deltalites or kapalites in it and a quality eminence compression driver and waveform along with an off-the-shelf 5k x-over and l-pad.

You also need to consider the tuning frequency of the cab.

Im not a fan of any tweeter...thats why I was looking at putting a mid driver in there (if I need it). And where would one buy an off the shelf 4 ohm crossover? All of them I have seen are 8 ohm.

Sorry about reviving this dead thread. Did you ever successfully upgrade the drivers in your VX215? I'm looking into doing the same, and converting the input to SPEAKON.

For those following this necro-thread, no way in hell are you going to get 107dB/1W/1M out of a pair of 3015's, maybe 102dB in ideal conditions when adjusting for 40Hz average bandwidth.
