Please be noticed that I am really beginner on double bass.
I got first one last year but later found that's 1/2 size and doesn't really fit to 6' guy so got another cheap one again last one since I have lesson appointment tomorrow.
But nut has been reversed by precious owner
so I decide to fix it before lesson and order blank one from ebay, named "finest ebony nut". Whatever ~.
I made it square angle at work so I can use weekend.
FYI, Old one and New one at bottom.
It's on surgery table (floor.... right)
I cleaned the fingerboard at first cuz that had lots whity spots everywhere. Looks so clean Now.
It was bit hard to remove precious nut and clean off the glue spot. Chiseled, Scraped and Sanded.
I put the nut and nut's little short so....I use maple veneer what I used to use for guitar making.
and sand to fit the glue spot.
and glued before nut.
and tape mark for actual nut width, before slotting.
These are basically for guitar work but ... should be same, right ?
and took me 2-30 min for nut slot, sanded & polished.
and Nut's being Glue....
and stain bare wood part.
Now can't be seen 6-7 feet far. ^^
Now really ready for tomorrow. ^^
