Just bought a new stingray 5 with the 3 band and 3-way switch. Anyone make a pickup which is splittable and gets more of a fender jazz tone when split?

replacement pickups for a Stingray 5?

What do you not like about the original pickup? With my SR5, which was an '02, you could switch to singlecoil, bump the mids a touch and get a very nice, "soloed bridge J" type of sound.
I do like the original pickup. I just wondered if there was something that could get a fender jazz pickup sound in the same housing.

The pickup placement of the split, may make it difficult to reproduce a Jazz sound exactly, due to the placement of the pickup. Although you may be able to get a "close" sound.....Isn't the single coil setting on the front coil on a MM pickup?
There are a LOT of "Fender Jazz" tones. Those sounds come from not only the single coil design but also the fact that there are two pickups located as they are. How you mix them is the magic of the J bass.
As mentioned, you can cop a tolerable "bridge soloed" tone with the MM, but you'll never get much of the great variety of classic jazz bass tones no matter what PU you use.

It's the coil closest the bridge..... plus the 3rd phantom coil (if you've got one) which acts as noise cancelling only.
