Replacement Preamp/Controls for Spector Euro LT Copperburst

Hey Gang,

So managed to pickup an absolutely cherry Spector Euro LT Copperburst - this one had the ebony neck, and EMGs with the Tonepump circuit - a configuration I really wanted because I love the sound of EMGs with an Ebony neck. I've never liked the sound of bartolini's and knew that the darkglass would be too aggressive for the music I play.

While the bass plays wonderfully and it's so light and easy on the back (after years of playing Ernie Ball Musicman Stingrays), unfortunately the tonepump is pretty noisy (the high end hisses quite a bit), there's no cut, just boost, and it doesn't have the variable mid pot that the darkglass has. I'm considering dropping in an Aguilar preamp, but want something with a mid control in there as that really gives you that trademark Spector growl.

That all said I want to hear from anyone out there that has done some modifications to their bass - what worked and what should be avoided. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

I’m about to embark cause I don’t think I can do the darkglass pre. Unless it’s turned moslty down I’m not a fan of the mids an just idk I feel there has to be a preamp that better for me. Like I added a sushi pedla
