Replacement speaker for Laney RBW300

Hi,
I need to replace a blown speaker for my Laney RBW300 bass amp. It is not my main amp, more a backup/practice amp, so I would love a reasonably priced speaker. Any suggestions for a suitable speaker?

Output: 165 Watts RMS
Speaker: 15" HH Driver & Horn
Impedance: not sure. 8ohm maybe?

Where are you located? Have you contacted Laney to see if the original driver is still available, or if they have a suitable replacement?

Are you sure it's the speaker that's bad and not an amp problem?

I am in Norway. This amp has been sitting unused in my basement for Years, because of its very unpleasant sound. A lot of rattle, even on very low volumes. First i thought maybe the front grill was loose, so I checked, and tightened it. The rattle was still there.

I just took it for granted the speaker was the problem. I could maybe check how it plays with an extension cab. But i have recorded with it, using the D.I.

Thought I just swap the speaker and have a decent backup amp.

I am also having trouble identifying the impedance on the stock speaker. Took it out, but dont understand the writing on it.

Hmm, H|H? So, Laney uses(d) speakers from a different builder of amps? Is H|H still around?

Is that the original speaker, or perhaps, already a replacement?

This should be the original speaker yes. I bought the amp new (around 2002?) and I have not changed anything on it.

when i googled «laney 15" hh invader speakers» it looked like the resultats was mostly relatert to Laney guitar amps.

Update:
I have tested the amp with an ext. cab which sounded good!!

I also took out the original speaker and tested it without it being mounted in the combo. And the speaker still sounded like crap.

So I conclude that the original speaker is a goner. I assume that the combo structure is good. Which can only be proven by installing a new speaker.

But where would you go from here? Get a new speaker and install it? Or convert the amplifier to a head? I have a 1x12 cabinet and this would be a pretty light wheight rig for backup.

In the future I could still install a new 15" speaker in the combo and use it as a cab.

I'd replace the defective speaker. Options:
1. Contact HH for a replacement or get their specs from them.
2. Once you have the speaker specs, find a replacement with the same specs from the manufacturer of your preference. There are plenty to choose from in Europe (Beyma, Oberton, B&C, Celestion, etc).
3. Contact Laney for a replacement.
