Replacing a Gibson 3-point bridge with a Schaller 460/460A?

Will this work? I got a NOS Schaller 460 (the shop said 460A, but the box says 460) for small money and actually would like to put it on my 2013 Midtown bass.

I love that bass for it's great neck feeling, but the original bridge just could not be set for correct intonation. I replaced that with a supertone which served the problem, but also changed the sound quite noticably to less woody / life.

Will the Schaller 460 (be it A or not) fit the hole patern? Will it be stable or is this going to tilt?

Hi.

From the pics that can be found on-line, it looks like the Schaller is (/was) the replacement for the 2 point "evertilt", not the "oil rig" 3-point.

Looks like the saddles are a good 12mm or so too far back, in line with the posts.

Yes, but the problem with the original bridge was I had to pull back the saddles all the way to get the E-String close to decent intonation. That was pretty close to in line with the posts already, so I thought that might do the trick.

Since I am in the market for an old EB3, I could use bridge anyway.

Ah, Gibson has once again drilled the holes in the wrong place.
I've seen a few 80's RH and LH LP guitars with incorrectly slanted TOM's.

Easy to measure to make sure that's really the problem.
If it is, then the Schaller should work.

I went with the hipshot replacement ion the Midtown and it is fine.

I got a cheap EB-0 body & neck in the meantime, but without bridge and any other hardware or electronics. This is where the Schaller will be going to.

Is there any expierience with it? The whole interwebz has very little information about that bridge and only very few people seemd to have ever used it. Was there something wrong with it?

Any information would be highly appreciated.
