replacing input jack for EMGs

The input jack to my ibanez is really loose and can't hold the cable in very well anymore. It pops like crazy.

I recently bought a new input jack, but I just realized it is a mono jack. The one in my bass is stereo. I think the reason for using a stereo jack is to keep the battery disconnected when the bass isn't plugged in.

Is there a way to wire the mono jack without causing the battery to drain or do i need to find a stereo jack? I tried looking at the schematics at the EMG website and they aren't very helpful. Any suggestions?

You're gonna need a stero out put jack, buddy. It's best not only for easier wiring, but the active tone may be different if you use a mono.
