Replacing my MXR bass envelope filter...

Which envelope filter would you choose to complement an EHX Bassballs?

It might be just me, but I need to heat up the signal a little to get the sounds I want with the switch in down mode. It's just fine in up mode. But then again I like my filters pretty obnoxious!

That might be the difference. I almost always run mine with the sweep set to 'up' rather than 'down' and generally shoot for a pretty normal/traditional envelope sound.

You should check out the vintage EHX Mini Q-Tron. It's a big box and has an unwelcome volume boost, but it could be modded and rehoused! I've tried the MXR, Proton, Groove Regulator, Wonderlove, Trutron 3X, Neutrino, Enigma and the original Q-Tron, and the Mini is the greasiest of the lot!

$80 is a steal for all the Q-Balls can do, including a bunch of fixed filter and pseudo-synth tones.

Since you saved so much money, send it to Analogman and have them mod the Distortion trim pot to the outside. It makes the pedal even more versatile and useful, and the mod cost me about $70, including shipping both ways. Turnover time was about a week. I also had them add a volume control later.

Yes, I was referring to my previous post.

I was setting the Sensitivity too high and I see that is the way most people use it. That way I get a liquid sound instead of bubbles. I like bubbles.

The settings for that demo are:
Dry at 10 o'clock
FX at 11 (when I turn on the pedal I usually attack the strings harder)
SENSat 10
Q at 2 o'clock
DECAY at noon (I think it doesn't affect much with this settings)

I will still be trying to improve that sound.
