Just a quick follow up post. It seems that as predicted everything's gone to sh*t. I went in to audition a guy yesterday which was my first time using my rig in a month or so. I felt really odd about my tone, it felt less round and much furrier than usual. I was using dead strings so I passed it off as that. When the other guys were out of the room I had a fiddle and to my intense disappointment I realised that my cab was vibrating badly, the sound was brown, dull and I could hear a wet fart sound coming from at least one of my speakers.
I turned of my drive booster and there the tone still felt grim, empty and flat. Essentially, without any further knowledge of these things I've got to assume I've finally tired out my speakers, maybe even busted at least one of them.
I'm obviously really bummed out because in order to upgrade to a more suitable cabinet I would need to be able to sell this cab for at least $350 to do it. I dare say I'd have a hard time selling a probably pooped out 1048H for more than 150 bucks. At this point I think a new cab is out of the question. Therefore I have a couple of options:
1. Ride the busted cab in the rehearsal studio as long as I can until it no longer makes sound anymore, and gig with other people's cabs. Sell it for nothing much. Reassess further down the track.
2. Have the cab re-coned. I found that the BAS website below is selling Trace cones.

I can get 4 of their 10" and pay to have someone put them in because I wouldn't know how. It would probably cost me 6-700 dollars to ship out the cones and have the cab serviced, over twice as much as the cab is currently worth. The cones are 200w at 8ohm so I'm not even sure that they would fit in a 300w rms cab. I don't understand the first thing about how the electronics of enclosures work.
I don't think I have a good option here but what would you do if you were in my position? I'm going on a trip later in the year so I don't really have much disposal income. Any help would be appreciated.
