Replacing PJ pickups

I've been looking to get this kind of tone, and I know the bassist uses a PJ. I have a Fender Aerodyne Jazz, but I can't quite achieve this tone. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some more aggressive sounding pickups that could get me closer to achieving it?

DiMarzio Model P&J. I put them in my Aerodyne Jazz bass, and aggressive is definitely the word I'd use.

+1 on that. Wire them in series, and it's a very thick (lots lot of lows and mids, not so much highs) and agressive sound.

Duff Mckagan use this too, i'd suggest Seymour-Duncan STK-J2. I have it in my Fender and i'm very close to this sound.

I believe several common basses would get you close to this tone with the correct strings, EQ, drive, amp and technique...

I use a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 and STK-J2 wired to a single 500k volume and a Gibson style 3 way toggle. No tone control. It's hum canceling and has plenty of bite. I generally adjust the pick ups as high as they will go with out sounding "weird". I then adjust the bridge pickups height to taste with the toggle in the center position.
