Replacing Woofers/Using WinISD

I recently downloaded WinISD, in attempts to see if i could make my Peavey 210TX perform any better.

I downloaded the program, and put in the specs required, now i have two questions.

What are some very efficent, "deep-sounding" woofers that i should look at?

and In WinISD, in the Vents window, it says "Vent Match". I want this as close to zero as possible right?

WIN iSD is ok, but if you dont know it, you might be surprised with the results and it could be that it isnt what you expected.

How did your Peavey 210TX do in the simulation ?
could you post a scteenshot of the curve ?
The Vent Match soesent has to be =0 as long as it is green it is ok.....
but as smaller the vent as more vent noise you get even if it is still in the green. you can allways shape the exit sides edge of the vent round, like a trumpet (inside an out side)

Pro drivers push a lot more air than hifi.

You see, this program is intended for Home hifi and Car hifi, therefore you have to understand the program and what it does.
As I said you might be surprised with the result, possibly in a positive way. I recomend to try to fool around with that Peavey so you get an idea what it does.

A hint find out the cubic feet of the original Peavey Cab, then look how many Cubic feet. you get automaticly from the program.

tell me what you get I might be to tell you what direction should work.

Efficient AND deep? The only way to get that is to go for a larger diameter speaker. With the laws of physics being what they are and with current technology being what it is, it's a case of Loud, Low, Small - pick any 2.

10's are relatively small so if you want to go deep, you have to sacrifice the loud (Eg Acme). If you want to be loud, you have to scarifice some lows (Eg Eden). Peavey seem to try for a middle ground.

My tip - consider more speakers.

Yes but they'd have to be large.

Ok, i ment by effiecient and low is this:
Id like to milk every little bit of sound i can, will being able to boost lows and not get that bad sound that my woofers make now.

The sound is definatly from the cone (i think) being over-extended. It sounds like the paper in the cone is making noise.

Also, when i ran the cab as is, i couldnt change the port length to match in WinISD. Also, it has the stock peavey woofers in it, and i dont think those were an option in the database, and i dont know where to find the TS specs on them.

To be honest when it comes to low end the peavey 210tx is an excellent performer but like everything, there are limits.
Yes I am a peavey fan & yes I can afford whatever I want but I CHOOSE peavey sometimes because it gets the job done where many more expensive offerings fail miserably.
It sounds like you have plenty of wattage so if youre boosting the bass freq to the point of the cones over excursion, I dont think the drivers are a problem.
Except that you dont have enough of them!
The stock porting should be ideally suited to what speakers the cabs already loaded with so changing it wont make much difference.
I think the best thing you can do is get more speaker surface area whether it be more 10's, 12's, 15's or whatever.

really though, you have made several passing references to what you seem to regard as a terrific driver. care to share?

About as loud and low as you can get is with an Eminence BP102, as it has twice the xmax of the average driver, but it will still need a fairly large cabinet to do so. Bottom line, from a sealed or reflex box with two tens there's only so much you can get, there are no 'miracle' drivers out there, at any cost.
