Resistor values on dual-ganged pots

Hello all. I'm about to replace the two dual-ganged pots that came in my Squire Classic Vibe Jaguar. They are each wired for volume/tone on the upper/lower knobs.

I see that each of them has a resistor which I assume takes them from 250/500 to 250/250. Is this correct? If that is the case, I am curious to know why they used different types which I would assume are different values.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for straightening out my misuse of resistor/capacitor. I'm a novice when it comes to electronics but even I knew it was a cap. Derp!

In any case, that makes sense that it would be the same value and using a slightly different part is nothing that would be a big concern on a guitar at this price point.

Am I correct that it converts a 250/500 dual concentric pot to being a 250/250? It's my understanding that bass pots are typically 250K for both volume and tone but that CTS and others don't make 250/250 dual pots as a standard run-of-the-mill product.
 
The cap is what rolls off treble for the tone control. It doesn’t have any effect upon the value of the pot. The pots are 250/500 and that’s fine.

There really isn’t a standard value for volume or tone pots for bass. Fender used 250k for the Jazz and Precision so people tend to think of that as “standard” but Gibson frequently used 500k, Rickenbacker chose 300k, there’s no standard value.
 
Yes - those are tone roll-off caps. You have stacked pots - top is volume and bottom is tone. The caps might be different values, as fender felt one pickup needed more treble roll-off than the other one, or they may just be different caps - it doesn't matter what kind of cap it is - it is only the value that counts.

500K may give a tiny bit more brightness at full on depending on how it is wired.

Also - putting a resistor in there like that would not normally change the value, but would change the taper. We've made fake log pots that way when necessary.
