Master Luthier and all around great guy Mike Lipe has passed away just hours ago and I am gutted. He was a force and true innovator in the industry and will be missed by many. It is a sad day, and one of great loss for the guitar building community as a whole.

Rest in peace, Maestro.

I heard about Mike's passing from my long-time guitar player and song-writing partner. He and Mike were friends. I would see Mike on a regular basis at the local Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society jams, and another local Blues jam. He was always a gentleman and interesting to converse with. And an accomplished guitarist. I didn't know that a thread had been started on Talkbass about his death. Yes, he is missed. Here's a pic I took of Mike and my guitarist Dave Asmussen at the Anaheim CA NAMM show in January 2014. :crying:
