Rest in Peace, Randy Meisner.

I always liked the Eagles even when I was Funk and Fusion diehard. After hearing of Randy Meisner’s passing, I put on my headphones and gave their greatest hits a good listen. Randy Meisner really knew how to play on a ballad! He mastered Country and Rock feels while killing it on vocals. His role in the Eagles reminds me of Verdine White’s role in EWF except that Meisner sang lead and beckground while Verdine stuck to harmony only (Maurice White and Phillip Bailey had lead vocals on lock!)

Every now and again there are songs that have bass lines in them that I just notice right away. A lot of Eagles songs with Randy on them had that for me. Those songs were definitely part of why I started playing the bass guitar. Thank you for the gifts and the inspiration, Mr. Randy Meisner.

Sad. Wasn't a massive fan of the Eagles, I was born a few years too late but they were present in my growing up phase. I think they were unique in what they did and left some lovely songs in their trail. The bands and their members of the 70's and 80's are falling like ninepins now. RIP mate, and thanks for what you gave us.
