Randy Meisner was one of my earliest influences on electric bass. I spent (still do) countless hours playing along with songs from the "One of These Nights" album. Sad news indeed.

Huge Loss. Very sad to hear this. Always loved Randy's voice & playing.
What a shame! We would walk together in our little park. He was an incredibly nice and humble person. It was a privilege to know him.

This has been a tough year for bass players.
I play in a band that does a lot of Eagles, including Take It To The Limit. Yeah, I sing it. But I rarely do the super high bits at the end. Those are Super-Human. Randy Meisner was a great player, and singer. I’ll be ready to honor him at the next gig.

That's very very sad sad news. 'Try and love again' my favorite Eagles song with a brilliant Meisner.
When I returned from the Air Force in 1974, we formed a new band, and I was so grateful to be back home. That band did at least a dozen Eagles tunes.

The early Eagles were truly an astounding collection of talent, his vocal ability a big part of that.
A shame he seemed a guy that just wasn't cut out for the lifestyle, and that his band-mates couldn't see it and help.
The Take It To The Limit vocal is surely up there as one of the all-time greats, for sure.

Yeah, Randy was never into the “Life In The Fast Lane” thing. He was a nice guy from Nebraska.

"one of these nights" is driven by his beautiful melodic bassline. His soaring harmonies were unmatched.
Oh no!Randy was a great bass player, songwriter and amazing singer. By all accounts, he was also a super nice guy. I was sad to hear of this. I knew he had been in poor health for many years.
I particularly enjoyed his bass playing on "One Of These Nights" and "Life in the Fast Lane".
His lead vocals on "Take it to the Limit" were outstanding and his background vocals were an integral part of The Eagles' sound.

Incredibly sad news. Randy was such a sweet soul and a genuinely nice guy. Like many here, I was in a band that played many songs from the Eagles entire catalog. Heck, in the early country rock days we'd open our sets with "Midnight Flyer."
I was fortunate to meet Randy in the late 80's, as he visited our store several times over the years. When I told him I was a huge fan of his work, he brought in the same Rickenbacker in the photo above which he used to record "Hotel California" and many other songs. It was a blast to play that bass.
R.I.P. Randy, and Godspeed.
