restringing

hi i reently restrung my bass and i couldnt put the ends of the strings in the hole in the tuner without it always twanging out while i tried to tighten it up...

so ive threaded the ends of the string through the middle of the tuner and under the coil on the other side so i have bits of string poking off from every tuner... would this cause any problems? or is it just going to look messy?

please infrom me :ninja:

The nut is the piece of plastic at the low end of the fretboard that the strings lay across, in grooves, before being wrapped onto the tuning machines. Is that what you're talking about?

It seems you're talking about the saddles or the bridge... can you explain or show pictures?
