i'm subscribin'. i grew up a heavy metal kid so i still have a soft spot for a b.c. rich... but would never think of owning one. that is until now. dang.

and let me say, when i saw the pic with the wings cut off i thought... "now why didn't he just give it to me. here he is taking a perfectly good bass and destroying it. it's going to look like trash when he's done with it. idiot." guess i was wrong.

As for your veneer question - look for any place that sells "Rare & Exotic Veneer." That brand is an insanely good value:

$30 for this Walnut 4 piece

and that is a Jazz bass case to give you an idea of size

To be honest, I am seriously reconsidering my decision to go with genuine electronics. I have been extremely disappointed with the supplier and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired

The Varitone is the only thing I'd worry about losing... the original booster pre was pretty much useless on bass anyway. You can still go passive DM's with S/P switching and an actual bass pre w/EQ.
