Retro-sonic Delay

Well, if it's anything even close to the Boss DM-2 that it is founded on, it should be awesome. It's a lot of money, though. I would still like to try one out just to see how well it compares to the DM-2 vibe which, IMO, is as good as it gets for warm, analog delay tone.

The Retro-Sonic is really good. I tried it and their Phaser (a nicely modded script circuit) at the same time. Sounded like I remember the DM-2, but it did seem somewhat brighter than the Boss to me - which doesn't mean a whole lot as dark as the DM-2 is. I thought the Long/Short switch was superfluous (it just doubles or halves the rate).

I'm not big on self-oscillation but it is good, if on the chirpy side. Not quite Ekko Bright chirpy (based on clips of the Malekko) but brighter than say the Carbon Copy.

It's a pretty penny for something that I don't think is much better than the MXR but costs twice as much but it is solidly built and sounds great.

As a side note, the phaser was good enough that it made me reconsider script circuit delays again. I didn't end up buying that one but tried another decent one that will show up on my new board in the Post Your Pedalboard thread. This concludes my only mildly interesting teaser.

You do realize that the Retrosonic delay has a tone knob. Right? If you adjust the tone, you can get it to be as dark as you like.

I have owned the RS delay for the past year plus, and it's not going anywhere. One of the best analog delays available IMO, and built really well.
