Not sure how long until the great Sun)))0The Beta Lead/Bass series heads are $799 and the preamps are $699. Not terrible but also kinda of a hard sell at being competitive. Seems like they are pretty much the same thing as the old ones, didn’t think to try and do something new? There’s plenty of Sunn stuff around for a lot less that what they want to charge for these heads.
They bought the name, they copped the look. There's nothing else the same. They are hoping to ride on nostalgia.
Dude so sick. On the other hand… THE PRICING! I got a whole 60s 200s rig for less than $1k last year.

I don't understand… The Beta Bass is using "CMOS analog preamp, class D Power Amp".
So why only 100W? What's the point of making a 100W class D bass amp in 2023, seriously? If it's a class D Power Amp, why not 350 W or 800 W?

Perhaps less complicated heat management? I bet they're using some sort of system of compression and band-pass logic to make that amp sound louder and a bit "squishy" and give it some character. At least that's what the Sun SS amp I had access to was like - squishy...

I wonder if they will reissue the 2x15 cabinet? Although these days I don't know where I would play it.

Fender should reissue that high-gain Model T from the early 2000's. There's a market for it.
In the late 1970s I joined a band and the guitar player offered me his Sunn Model T and a Fender Jazz bass (possibly a 1960s model) as a package for $700 but no, I had to have my own choice of gear so he traded it in for a Strat and I bought a Rickenbacker 4001 ($450and an Ampeg V4B with B25B cab ($450). I don't regret buying that amp and the Rick served me well for the Top40/Classic rock dance music we did at the time.

I find it really puzzling to go through the trouble of a 36lbs full size box with dual CMOS channels and send this into only 100W of class D. There is room for any 1000+ watt on the market in there.
