Double Bass Rev Solo II

for rev solo II user's:
how about this new model? I've been used for awhile the old model that not satisfied me. the main problem is a sort of humming, a very low noise, and also a not very well balanced sound at different pitch (low notes had more volume than medium-high).
now I returned to old Underwood. but, the rev solo II?
(I play velvet garbo strings. the acoustic sound is good for me and, most important, for the musicians that I'm playing with).

I think the RS II sounds and works better than the original issue Rev Solo, if that's what you mean. I've used them both. The character of the pickup didn't change so much. But the signal is hotter. I don't have any problems w/ hum or noise with mine.

Getting a good balanced sound has a lot to do with fit in the bridge wing as you probably know, and techinque I reckon. But some say the RS II is a little more forgiving in that regard than its predecessor. I still had to invest time and attention fitting mine for what I considered the best tone w/ my bass.

I have both a Realist and a Rev Solo II on a LaScala hybrid that is my main bass in Scotland. I use Evah Pirazzi strings on this instrument. While I like both pickups, I find myself using the RevSolo most often because it sounds more natural and accurate, and less electric. I find it brings out more of the woody character of the bass. I had a RS-I previously, and version II is much improved, particularly its ability to put out a greater volume. It is still not as hot as the Realist, but I've found it plenty hot enough for any use I've made of it which has ranged from playing in loud big bands to small duos and trios without drums. I find the volume even over the strings and haven't had any humming problems.
