Revamping a Squier Precision Bass

whoa that loos great , seriously. Very pino like!

My guitar player dropped an affinity off at my place a week ago and said sale it for 50$ or more, it was dirty so i tore it down cleaned it and put some used rounds (his were rusted) on it and adjusted the neck its a bit beat but i love the neck , i may just give him 50$ and do what you did or relic the black paint and get a tort guard

I recommend buying it and doing whatever you want to it. I don't know if it is all the work I put into it, or just the fact that I completely customized it exactly how I wanted it, but I LOVE this bass. I played it for hours last night just sitting in my room. This thing may actually get more playing time than my Fenders now.

You know there is no sense in trying to fight it. You're going to succumb to the GAS at some point! I actually think it would look great. I love the look of Fiesta Red and rosewood with a tort guard, but I also love the look of Fiesta Red and maple with a white guard. I think you should go for it.

Please stop taunting me. I was going to do a Jamerson Tribute bass at the close of 2010, but I have two P Basses with rosewood, already. I have to stop logging on to TB. ;)

I bought it for 50$ been playing it a few hours , i am liking it thanks for the inspiration:)

I think i am just going to leave the paint as is with honest wear my friend had played it in bands for 4 years and its pretty worn. I am going to reranch tint the neck , add pickups to be decided still , full size cts pots and switchcraft jack, MIM fender tuners that were given to me and try to get a tort guard with some wear to match the body . I will post a thread when i start;)


Basically it will look like this , i plan on adding the 70's style logo when i refinish the neck.

Sorry I didn't answer your question, I just now saw it as I was scrolling back through. At some point, if I play it as much as I plan to, I may have to change the tuners. They keep the tune just fine, but they don't turn smoothly. The bridge is in great condition, and as I said earlier in the thread, I'm not a big believer in "the bigger the better" bridge thing. So, if I ever did replace the bridge, it would be a vintage style just like the one that is on it. But, you are right, it needs a thumbrest as well as the pup covers.

Here are some better pictures. I wanted to take some outside, but it's raining here, so I had to settle for pictures by the window. Now it just needs some pup covers and a thumbrest. I am accepting donations of any of the above items :D
