Reverse PJ vs JJ

So I've found a little info on this topic but most of it are very old threads and I know pickup technology and designs have come a long way over the years. I'm having a 4 string bass built by a lutheir and I'm torn with the pickup configuration to go with.

I've found myself leaning towards being a P bass guy but I also have value for a good J. Initially this was going to be a J bass style build however I'm second guessing it for a couple reasons.

Will a reverse PJ be a happy medium between the that thunderous E string to the overall articulation a J can give you? Not looking for just a P or just a J, I have that covered. I'm also thinking the reverse P makes for a good placement for the thumb to rest at times as well.

I'm looking for something different and wonder what TB has to say.
