Revised bass design...

So, for the people that posted in my previous thread about the design for a bass I had, this is a new version that is a little more sensible. A couple of things, though. One, the neck is a bit messed up, I didn't really focus too much on that because I wanted it to be pretty normal with exception inlays. Also, the pickups aren't that accurate, I believe they are a bit wide, just wanted to show them. And for the people who didn't see my last thread, I'm not a luthier, and don't plan on making this, it's just for fun

I'll be interested to see the end result, and maybe if you have the funds after you can make this design, eh, eh? lol, I wish I had money to spend right now

Lol it would be awesome to attempt. I have basically done everything off of common sense and self education with the exception of a few things. It would be fun to practice scroll work. I got all the woods from my wood shop teacher with the exception of the maple

It's looking pretty good for a self taught first attempt (not that I really know much about making basses), if i had the time, money, and skill/resource of knowledge, I would totally make a bass

For that point at the base of the neck, what if the neck was flat and that point was a cutout in the top-wood that exposed the body wood beneath it? Some custom shop whose name escapes me does something like that with F-hole designs on their basses.

Edit: Or it could be a neck-through and the cutout could expose neck wood that would be otherwise covered by the pickguard and top-wood.

I'm not sure what you mean. Sorry, I'm more of a visual learner, if you have a picture of what you mean that would be good. Do you mean that the base it a flat line and then the point of it is carved into the bass?

Yeah, the base would be a flat line and the point would be a cutout in the top/front veneer of the body. So let's say the top/front of the bass was a layer of walnut, and the body wood beneath it was ash. The point at the base of the neck would show the ash while the rest of the top/front of the base was the walnut.

Sorry if it sounds confusing. Normally, I'd throw together a picture in MS Paint, but I just upgraded to Windows 7 and I'm finding that Paint is far less functional now.
