Double Bass Revo Solo II install question

I recently ordered and received a Revolution solo II pick up for my bass. The mounting instructions suggest that I sand down either the pickup or if necessary the bridge wing. The style of bridge that I have has the mounting area on the wing coming to a point. I can shave a bit from it, but am not sure if there will be enough meat on it to work with the pick up. Thought I would check and see if anyone here has done this, or if it's best to not use this pickup with the style bridge I have. I'm emailing Upton, but thought I'd check here as well since its the weekend.

I got a RS2 recently and had to file down my wing. I did not get the sides parallel, but I think the area that contacts the pickup is about the same as your green line. Mine works fine after shifting the pickup around to hit the sweet spot. Shifting it changes the sound dramatically. But that might be because of the non parallel sides. I'm planning to experiment with a wooden wedge.

Based on my experience I would try to cut off the wing tip, but I would be really careful to get it parallel to the other side (my bass is not a lot of $$$ though)

You could build up the wing with epoxy putty or wood filler or what-have-you, in order to maximize the surface area of the bridge in contact with the pick-up.

+1, in my opinion it is critical to get the face of the bridge wing paralell to the leg, again, to maximize the contact surface area.
 
It's been a while, and I forgot that I didn't post a final reply to this thread. I did hear from Upton as well on this, and the consensus was that what I had sketched out was probably the best route. I ended up taking a small had saw and files, and removed the necessary material from the bridge as well as a bit from the pickup.

Had my first gig out with it a week ago, and all worked great.
