I was playing whatever the cheapest Squier P is at work today in the music room. Sounded awesome. The longer and the more I'm playing - the more true what you said is becoming. And I really am starting to turn into one of those obnoxious people who believe that tone is ALL in the fingers. I believe it, which is the first step. I haven't started ranting about it yet though.... that's when my obnoxious conversion will be complete.

In my opinion, the Rickenbacker sound is matchless. The jazz can get close and make some similar tones which is cool but the Ric has a particular MoJo to it. There is what I call a "sponge-y-ness" to the tones and the bottom end is distinctly phat. Nothing is quite like a Ric. It is an absolute Beast.

Indeed.

Even just on the bridge pickup, my 4001 and 4003S have this great slight warble to the sound that seems unique to Rickenbackers. Set on the neck pickup alone, it's the most pillowy, round bass tone, but still with definition.

Warble, I like that depiction of the tone that almost indescribable Ric sound.

I'm not sure but it seems like the authentic Ric string. They play and sound great.

A great example of the differences. Jazz clearly sounds like a Fender. Ric sounds like a Ric.
