Ethnicity has a lot to do with it, if it didn't there would not have been a need to create an Elvis Presley. We all know what that was about.
Do you know who Lonnie Brooks is? Well he had a hit single in the late 50's- early 60's that got a lot of air play, did very well in sales and it was heavily requested at the radio stations, as soon as he appeared on a TV show to sing his hit and it was now known that he was a black man, the game changed, so don't ask me what does ethnicity have to do with music.
