I was checking out this same bass. Their price seems a bit high for me...and GC's won't really negotiate prices on used gear as far as I know. If it was $1000 or less I'd be interested.

Wow, didn't even know Rickenbacker made a 3xxx series. 
What's the sound like compared to the 4001 or 4003? I've been looking into getting an older Rick (Need as much mojo as I can get my hands on

I had a burst one like loendmaestro's come up on my local CL for $800 less than a year ago. I think my research of ebay, TB, nd CL in other cities yielded that was a decent price, but I changed my mind and didn't buy it. I think four figures is kinda high for a 3000 series.
The 3001 has all of the signature Rick "clank", with more fundamental low end. Definitely more of a P-bass vibe...at least in my experience. I own a 3001, a 4001, & a 4003 & honestly, I prefer the 3001 over all of them. Not the drop dead sexy looks of the 4000 series, but a great bass.
And the prices of these seem to have risen over the last few years. It seems that $900-ish is the average now.

Somewhat off topic, but I noticed it has three knobs, but appears to have one pickup and no battery compartment... explain?
