Rickenbacker 4001v63 Sound Examples

4001v63 series are not so common. I made some sound samples about the bass for those who curious about how it sounds.

I have some recordings made with my old '98 4001V63 from a jazz fusion band I was in years ago, along with a sample/test recording of it with a scatterwound toaster (that I put in when I got the bass in '05) and an early 1960s magnetic horseshoe pickup (HS PU) that I installed on the bass about ten years ago including the .0047µF cap in line with the HS PU.

Did you get your finger rest from Tony?

Here is my V63 in its (almost) final configuration, with the '60s HS PU, mid '60s TRC, new, reprofiled pickguard and finger rest from Tony.

I reshaped the HS PU surround a bit to be more vintage authentic after having made that photograph (see close-up, below).

The old owner installed the finger rest. I don’t know where he got it. By the way, great fireglo! I loved it!
