Rickenbacker 4003 or 4003s

so are they still made or discontinued?

The thread is from 2013, the last post previous to yours was in December of 2013. As of that time they were no longer in production. (According to Paul Boyer's excellent Rickenbacker bass book, they went out of production in 1996.)

At the NAMM show in January of 2015 it was announced that the 4003S was going back into production. I ordered one at the time and received it in September of 2015. So yes, they are currently available. But they were not when this thread started.

I bought Paul's book twice. I tore my house apart looking for my original copy, I gave up and ordered a second one. When I eventually ran across the original copy I gave it away to a bassist buddy who also plays Rickenbackers.
