First video demo I have seen of these. Very nice bass! I see the pickups have six poles. 
I love it when he tries the vintage tone bypass on the neck pickup. 
These reviews are laughable. The playing is sloppy and only disfavours the bass. The setup sounds like it’sbadly done. The dude is not a bassist, or at least he should practice more before posting.

Thanks for sharing - had no idea. It was a great idea except it appears all they did was move the bridge forward and use two high gain pickups. I would have liked to see mods to the body size slightly and the neck pickup closer to the fingerboard for some wider separation, but it is what it is. Looks overpriced as well, but glad to see Ric doing something different.
Enter the one-of-a-kind short scale Rick from my island of misfit toys
It's a 70's Rick 4000 body which was fitted with a skinny short-scale Hofner-spec neck. Keeping the bridge in the same position, just means you sacrifice higher frets - this one only has 18 frets, BUT to have a neck pickup where the 20th/21st frets would normally be, gives you the coolest fattest neck pickup tone! I fitted it with a firebird pickup in the treble bezel and a custom JTEX distiller filter preamp.
This affirms my belief that a Danelectro DC59 shortscale sounds like a short scale Rickenbacker.
I agree with you! His interpretation of "Yours Is No Disgrace" was kinda cringy. Dare I say that it was "disgraceful"?

I had a longhorn that got a pretty good Rick sound.
I should note, this bass was dreamed up by a McCartney fan, so there is definitely some 4001C64S(?) inspiration there. I certainly respect Paul and the impact the Beatles had on the music industry, but I'm not a huge Beatles guy. None the less, when I came across this bass for sale, I was mostly just excited for a short scale 4001s! I just made it my own with the electronics and feel very fortunate to have ended up with it. Not my #1, but such a cool instrument with some very unique capabilities

The guy playing makes no claims of being a fabulous Bass Player........ I'd love to see more videos on here of some of those who leave Cringy Comments as THEY show off their playing Skills. those Little Ric's has a small store in the Netherlands. As I've suggested several times, Google is our friend ......... I Googled that Model and he's the only place/dealer that showed up.

I completely understand and respect your perspective — sharing videos takes time and effort, and not everyone aims to showcase virtuosity (including myself).
However, when a shop posts a demo publicly, especially with the intent to promote an instrument for sale, it naturally invites scrutiny. The purpose of such a demo is to make potential buyers want the bass — and in this case, the playing and setup unfortunately achieve the opposite. The tone, the technique, and even the basic understanding of the instrument didn’t do it any favours. Just play simple lines, open strings, quarter notes. Don’t try to do what you don’t know.
To make matters worse, the video even lists incorrect specs for the bass — something that could easily have been avoided with two minutes of research. When you’re representing a product publicly, accuracy is the bare minimum.
My comment wasn’t meant as a personal attack but as an honest, constructive observation. If taken in the right spirit, it can actually help the author see what’s not working and improve future presentations.
The truth is, uncritical praise helps no one. Blindly defending a weak demo does a disservice both to the musician and to the instrument itself. Constructive criticism, when delivered respectfully, is far more valuable than empty applause.
I’ve also shared my own playing publicly - as you asked - and I fully expect criticism, because that’s what public sharing entails. I’m not made of paper, and I believe open, honest dialogue is what helps musicians and shops alike evolve.
