Rickenbacker Bass Copy

Virtually identical instruments to the pics above he's posted, they will be made by the same factory I'd say..(same p.up config ,different bridge)....though these are fully built already, in hard poly, black, natural or 'fireglo'..the headstock has been left with a big curve at the top, which I will sculpt to a Rick hook shape when i can be bothered!
Possibly why the insanely jealous Mr Hall cant pull them?
The one I have plays great after minimal tweaks..View attachment 2966533 View attachment 2966530 View attachment 2966531
Sorry about crappy blurred pics, photography not my thing I'm afraid..
Nice bass, I really like it

The Chickenbackers do occasionally pop up on EBay, Hall used to have them taken down immediately, he must be slacking, I’ve seen the ads up for a few days at a time now. Whack-a-Mole I guess. @Pug the Pig , post some photos!
The Mahogany body/neck copy I have pictured, I sold it on ebay. I got an email from Mr Hall saying to not do it again. He must have a team searching night and day to shut them down once they pop up on ebay

It's not "copyright" it is registered trademark. RIC registered many of its design shapes decades ago and has been going after copies for just as long. But here is the thing about protecting your trademarks (and your copyrights): To claim protection under the laws, you must, MUST pursuit all violators (at least notify them that they are in violation) and that they should cease violating the trademark. The trademark holder can't play favorites; go after the big guy and let the little guy slide. Do that and you lose protection. These trademark laws seem to not have much effect on foreign production, but they can be (and are) effective with the importation (to the U.S. anyway) of fakers. Yes, some of these Chinabackers have gotten through the net, but when they are advertised for sale, RIC often shuts them down.

If you think RIC has a poor way of doing business, remember this. RIC registered and tries to protect its trademarks. RIC sells every instrument it makes and doesn't appear to have any substantial long-term debt. Fender did not register its trademarks. Now there are a zillion "Fenderish" instruments out there. I've read that Fender is in financial trouble. So if you're trying to sell a Rickenfaker and RIC comes a'knockin', welcome to reality!

Hi all,

Few weeks ago a friend of mine gave me this copy...Bought the allparts bridge, didn't now that it has a recessed part. So I will have to put some work in it.

Its a pity Rickenbacker didnt apply the same standard of support for IP protection when it blatantly ripped off the Tubeampology Treble Bezel, right down to the name. All those years of Hall blathering about Made in America out the window when he saw a good idea he could steal. Meh. No tears shed for Rickenbacker Inc. The only clones that were a serious threat to their bottom line were the Japanese Lawsuit basses of the 70's, some of which arguably rivaled or surpassed Rics of the same era. Post this on the Club Rickenfaker for advice minus the lecture.
