rickenbacker NBD^2

Envy is a bad thing, right? That is a sweet collection, congratulations! I hope to one day own every finish of the 4003/4001 series.

The bridge issue is weird. I agree that only Ric could get away with that. When mine arrived it had several issues that made me less than thrilled with the quality, but you just can't get a bass like it anywhere else.

Ric purist alert: It'd ruby, not red, dammit. And black? Oh, geez, that's jetglo! Before anyone asks, that's not natural on the left, it's mapleglo. And the 'blue' one is midnight blue, for God's sake. Whew, I feel better now.

Good news, OP, I think you are only a fireglo away from every color in the current lineup. No, wait, not if you want to include walnut series. And if you want to "square" your collection again, well, that's really going to cost you now.

Congrats on the basses, they all look great. You can really see the difference in the fingerboard material when you compare the new ones to the MB. And I think the MG is the new fingerboard, too? They went from bubinga to Caribbean rosewood in later 2011, I believe.
looks natural, red, black, black to me.

my bad, I had a white and gold dress moment

Wow,you bought 2 from Apple? Those, along with another one bought by another RRF member should net me a commission. Just joking,i emailed them to ask if they had any Rick bass cases, but they are sold out.
Congrats,they all look real nice!

i think i'm all set.

i'm not at all a fan of their "burst" paint, so no fireglo for me. and i've played a couple samples of the walnut edition, and those did nothing for me, either. (i do have a 4003S on order from pick of the ricks, though, and i might need more than one of those...)

you're clearly a rick jedi - you're correct on all counts. the midnight is a 2009, and all the rest are 2015. for the record, the neck profile on the midnight is also significantly slimmer than the newer ones. i've played a lot of rick basses in my life, and my midnight is the best one i've ever played; neck straight as a laser and god tone. (both pickups died within weeks of my buying it, back in 2009, and i had them both rewound by lindy fralin - maybe he gets some of the credit!)
