Rickenbacker Problem! Help! Is this "fingerboard lift"?

Hi guys, I bought a used 1984 Rickenbacker 4003 about a month ago that was cosmetically pretty beat, but sounds and plays good. I did, however notice a small crack around the body end of the fretboard. As you can see in the pictures, it's pretty severe looking on the treble side, and a hairline on the bass side. This crack goes about 2"s up the neck.

What is going on here?

How do I fix it?

How much will it cost?

Thanks in advance guys!

Yikes!

Go to the Rickenbacker website and ask about a Ric tech in New York. I doubt that having it repaired will be extremely expensive. If you have to have it repaired by someone who knows what he's doing after someone who doesn't gives it a go, it'll cost you more in the long run. Talk to the people who know (Rickenbacker) and get it fixed right the first time.
