Carvin has a set for $10, and I got a set of Dunlop 6 string for like $9 with prime shipping.
Carvin strings are the only bass strings I've ever had break. Broke the G on string up. They sent me another set free.
Too light for me, but the price is attractive. Do they have heftier strings? Maybe like 50-105's?
Singapore ... 2015-2016... Yamaha store at Tampines mall ... Rotosound Funkmaster 66 extra light gauge roundwound strings ... 1 set = 30SGD = 16,7€ .... ridiculously good and cheap strings !
In Europe we have Harley Benton string at 4,99 and the 5 string set at 9 euro. Maybe one day I'll give them a try...
Give em a shot. I bought a 3 pack of Hartke strings once because they were $25... NOTE: I only bought them once. Now, my curiosity is gone.

You raise a good point O4P. Another source of finding genuine string manufacturers, is checking music wire supplier's client list. So, there are four more U.S. manufacturers from their list we can add:

Seems a bit different than I thought...
Some of the info is a bit dated. Fender used to make their own strings, but since 2011 or so, D'Addario makes the strings for Fender.
You should check out upright bass strings. They usually run between $79 to $685 for a set of four strings. The cheapies aren't very good.
Oh yes I can... unless you can convince me that they'll sound the same as La Bella DTFs, and last as long. If you are a round wound kinda guy, I guess they'd certainly be worth a shot. But, I'm not a round wound kinda guy, and my experiences with The Glorious People's Revolutionary String Collective's strings have been...let's just say, less than wonderful...
I ordered a very similar set off of eBay. They turned out to be terrible. Had half the volume of my regular strings (Daddario).
Don't those strings come stock on guitars like this?
