rig help: Shuttle/MB2 pushing S15-D/AE112 stack

Ok, I've done some searching and not much has come up... A thread that died due to being made early 08. I've been able to test both heads and I dug both (in-store) for the small amount of time I had with them. what I've been able to try is both heads

MB2 at GC through GK 410 cab - I love how much ass comes out of such a small piece of gear
Shuttle at bass emporium through the S15 and an AE112 both sounded awesome just different types of awesome

The rig I have in mind

Bag End S15-D x 2 - I've had a very age of innocence love for this cab I've never owned one but always pine over it when it's around
or
an AE112 stack great sounding cab as well - I have a soft spot for bergs as well.

and one of these heads

GK - I'm a long time GK fan the 400RB (pre-fancy pants II-IV mods) served me well for about 10 years. Went from 400RB then jumped right into the sac with a DB750 only two heads i've owned. I still have both.

GB - Have seen it around but never had any experience with the brand until the shuttle came out... My initial thoughts of the head - Very much the features I want to see on a head extremely smart industrial design, nice layout of controls and I/Os.

play style - all finger nothing but fingerstyle

(Please there is more than enough about markbass gear out on the forums... I would like this thread to be focused primarily on these two heads... thank you)

what I'm hoping for - some folks that either own the Bag End and/or the AE stack using one of these heads... Thanks.

still not much on these specific match ups

shuttle + AE stack - little to nothing on the TB forums on this stack

shuttle + s15 stack - KPJ and somebody else have this rig and seemed to dig it

are these just bad pairing? there seems to be very little to no info on some of these pairings... even though to me atleast it seems like they would work.

I personally had some pretty bad luck mixing other cabs with the S15, but then again, a lot of people have had good luck with it. I think one good S15 deserves another.

I tried the MB2 on my Bag End stack and thought it was WAY too boomy and muddy. I haven't tried the Shuttle yet. The LMII was like striking gold on top of those cabs.

I have performed with the following combinations (no Shuttle though):

Epifani UL-502 - Bag End S15X-D and S15-D: Open sounding combination lacking mids a bit, very strong low end, decent highs. For the gigs I play (mostly jazz stuff in small- to medium-size venues) more than enough headroom/power. One of the best amp DI's out there, so feeds the house system or the studio very well.

Acoustic Image Focus 1 Series III - Bag End S15X-D and S15-D: Nice setup with more balanced output through a wide range of freq. Very high volume, low end not as much extended as the configuration with UL-502. Better mids, with less EQ capability overall. Even though the bass EQ center is not my favorite, due to the characteristic of the speakers, not much need trying to dial in a useable sound. A little more dull sounding than the configuration with the UL-502.

Acoustic Image Focus 1 Series III - 2 x Bergantino AE112's: Very good setup. Much more open than the above two. Can handle higher volumes better. Lacks a bit low end and a bit difficult to EQ because of AI's freq centers. Much lighter than the above setups though, so much easier to carry around.

Markbass F1 - 2 x Bergantino AE112's: The best setup of these four configs. Very punchy, mid-voiced sounds. Can cut the mix very easily even at lower volumes; lots of headroom. EQ is great for electric bass. Yet, not having the Mute function makes life a bit difficult at gigs with PA support, if you use the DI of F1. Lightest and smallest of all the configs, so the best for me.

At one point, I also mixed S15-D with a Bergantino HT112, and amazingly that combination worked great for me as well.

Of course, all the above IME and IMO...

nice, good to hear I'm fairly certain I would dig the s15 stack but the AE112 seems to get very little love here on TB I've been really curious on how it's doing out in the field (the AE410 gets on the love) but damn the AE112 is such an awesome little cab

The AE112 is a fairly new cab and not cheap so I would not say its disliked. Just not popular... yet.

I have owned a shuttle and a s15d though not at the same time. However I did try my shuttle with a schroe 1212r and found it was NOT a good combination as both units are weak in the low-end IMO. The s15d is also not going to give you deep lows. So I would surmise that the s15d and the shuttle would not be a good combination... but that is only an educated guess.

On the other hand the gk micro would likely be a better match with the s15d stack since it has more lows. My experience is that cabs that are not designed to pump out alot of lows need a very full and warm amp to make it up for it.
