3800 watts sounds insane, yes. In reality it's just half again as loud as 950 watts with the same speakers. Roughly 16x quality 10's @ full power.
E(0)adg tuning has it's challenges.
I turned it up max once...once. It's like getting a concussion while listening to music.

I may or may not have confused the problem with that of a tube poweramp. Solid state doesn't like too low an impedance, so I guess you're probably fine. But don't take my word for it.
