Just read about this on Sympatico. Some commenters are saying it was not a suicide, as he was found on a street corner not far from his home. No note or weapon found. Something's not being said, or it's very odd, IMO.

That is strange that no weapon was found...as I mentioned in an earlier post..a friend of mine tours all year and it is a big network of people who all do the same type of work and stay connected..he told me Bob went out to walk his dog and ended his life...
but as you said...where is the gun..and where is the dog??

I hope it's investigated and note just written of because it's easier. I know terrible chronic pain can be unbearable but to take your life...one never knows I guess.

Great player. I play along to Elton tunes all the time. Saw him I concert here a few months ago. Great show. He had a unique stage presence. I liked it. I'll have to go downstairs and play along to a few tunes today.

If it was self inflicted, I hope he finds peace. If not, I hope justice is served.

This is SO sad. I saw him with Elton last Oct. He was amazing. My God talent are dropping off like flies this year.

I saw him last year with EJ as well. At the time I didn't know of him, but looked him up right after the show. I just remember he was totally smokin that night. RIP

What a freakin' shame. I had the opportunity to meet Bob during my days with The Bass Centre, and last ran into him at the NAMM show with my kids several years ago. What a good guy, and a hell of a talent.

I hope he has found peace.

Likewise, Chris. I remember the day Bob came into The Bass Centre and announced he had gotten the gig with Elton. He was super excited, as one can imagine. First call: Ernie Ball to get some basses for the tour? Sure seemed like a nice guy who had paid some dues and was getting a break. So sad to hear bout his passing. RIP Bob.

as usually media report half the info and often even distort the facts… (bad wording + people adding their own interpretation and there you have a new tale….).

Does anyone know if he owned a pistol? {wife maybe? } After years of playing with Elton, why didn't he own a house? The news said he was found "near his apartment". A gun dropped on the ground in LA would be picked up , but not necessarily turned in to the authorities.
