Legendary reggae bassist Christopher Meredith has just crossed the rainbow bridge. A self-taught musician, he played with Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Burning Spear, Israel Vibration, Jimmy Cliff, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, Mutabaruka, Lauryn Hill and many more. RIP, Chris.

RIP Christopher, I believe I ran monitors for him when I did live sound on the reggae/world music circuit in the early 2000s.

It's funny, when people talk about reggae/dub on TB everyone reflexively says "P or J with flats" but as the pic of Christopher shows, soooo many pro reggae bassists use modern basses, often 5-ers with active electronics and roundwound strings - and sound fantastic! Aside from Bill Laswell (P) and Robbie Shakespeare (J) I saw very few Fenders or 4s in the scene.
