,but in some instances I think the Paul Grey thread was just people who were stating there opinion thru mere frustrating of addiction and the frustrating part of it for some of us is why,but on the other side of that coin to some it doesn't matter why it's dumb and personal choice..ok,but what struck me was that the people that we idolized on this forum @ TB ( as far as bass players) Jaco , Paul,Mike,and I was told Mark Adams(not so much as taking an overdose but nonetheless related to some type of alleged substance abuse I've not heard any confirmation on this and I hope it not being the case ) passed away under very similar circumstances involving substance abuse so in some way it does affect us because both sides had strong opinions.
If you have an addiction please ..try to get help,and if you know someone with an addiction please try to help them if you can, I understand the "boot n the ass/tough love approach,but that doesnt work for all,as well as the soft hands approach doesnt for everyone also,but I'm encourage to see people here @ TB voice the re opinions whether it's suttle or scathing it lets me see that there are more things important in life than bass playing,and understand addiction isn't just drugs/acohol, food addiction is very prevelant and Belemia is really on the rise among our youth so lets try to respect each others opinion if we can....you may not like the way it comes out but sometimes it's like that. I know we always think Mike Starr + Spector NS-2= AIC Tone. Yet, in the early days especially on demos he used a Black Jackson Bass I believe had PJ pups, then he messed with Fender some. In the "We die Young." video he is playing a Fender PJ type bass. In some of the old bootleg videos from back in the day he occasionally played Fender a little bit live a long with Spectors.

I have always wondered what kind of amps he used. I have heard somewhere he used AMpeg SVT-2 Pro's and Ampeg 810's. Since AIC I have seen pics of him with Danelectro, and he used a Gibson Grabber II and I believe an Ashdown rig on the Celebrity Rehab show.

When he played with the AIC cover band "Facelift" in NYC he played what looked to be a Fender Jazz through an Ampeg of some type.
