Diary Of A Madman is and will always be in my top 5 all time favorite albums. And the other 4 I always have to think about. Thanks Ozzy for all the great music.
If I had gotten to see any TV show filmed live it would've been this one from 1998. Letterman had some great musical guests over the years, but Black Sabbath had to be one of the loudest. Tony's guitar starts feeding back before he strikes the first note. Bill was still in good playing shape, too. Check out how Ozzy gets the crowd fired up, something he was always good at.

Absolute legend, the likes of which we'll probably never see in our lifetime.
I would have commented here yesterday, but I was too busy mourning this huge loss. I was listening to Ozzy's Boneyard on Sirius XM and listening to the stories was really emotional. It's evident that he is loved and missed my millions!
I played "Bassically/NIB" at GC this afternoon while testing out a bass. While that's my go to bass testing song, this time felt special. There were plenty of guitarists playing Ozzy solo and Black Sabbath songs in the background as well. They even played "Crazy Train" in the elders' water aerobics class at my pool this morning. As a metalhead, I got sad hearing that when I was swimming.
And it goes without say that his biggest legacy is his music. His invention of heavy metal alongside Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward cannot be emphasized enough. His storied solo career helped give him a second act as the 1970s ended. He also brought some big bass luminaries into the world of metal including Bob Daisley, Rudy Sarzo, and Rob Trujillo. I also have to mention Randy Rhoads (RIP), Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde, and the countless guitarists in Ozzy's solo band that became famous thanks to him.
Ozzy's music has influenced countless rock and metal bands and artists (myself included), starting and continuing a genre with a rich history 55 years and counting.
And that's not to mention his cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember, which I probably can't post on TB. That was my first memory of him from my childhood - before I became a metalhead. He was doing The Osbournes TV show with Sharon and two of his kids.
Thank you Ozzy for everything you have done! You will forever be loved and missed!

That was my second reaction (my first was a mixture of sadness and shock). I thought he had a year or two left.I knew he wasn't in great shape.
But the last concert thing gave me a false sense that he still had some time.
Major, major bummer.
Gonna spin some Sabbath tonight.
Back to the Beginning was advertised as his final show, but I didn't think it was literally going to be his final show. Let us all be grateful that it happened and we got to see it either live in person, via live stream, or later on YouTube.

A film of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's final concert, titled "Back to the Beginning: Ozzy's Final Bow," will release in theaters early 2026.
The 100-minute concert film documenting the band's sold-out stadium show in Birmingham is currently in production from Mercury Studios.
"Presented as a love letter to Ozzy and the pioneering sound of Black Sabbath, the theatrical release will be a distilled version of the epic all-day event held at Villa Park," a press release reads. "Featuring thunderous performances of 'War Pigs,' 'Iron Man,' 'Children of the Grave' and a show-stopping 'Paranoid,' the film promises a deeply personal and electrifying farewell from the godfather of heavy metal with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interviews from this iconic live performance."
Hosted by Jason Momoa, the event also featured performances from Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Ronnie Wood, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Yungblud, Papa V/Ghost and a drum-off between Tool's Danney Carey, Blink-182's Travis Barker and the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Chad Smith.
After the theatrical release of "Back to the Beginning" in early 2026, a physical product will also be available later in the year. More details on the rollout of the film will be announced in the coming months.

I love Black Sabbath and the 90's with No More Tears, but the 80's had something special for me.

I was never an Ozzy fan but there's no denying the influence of Black Sabbath. I liked the riffs, hated the vocals.
My strongest memory of him was the footage in the 1988 documentary "Decline of Western Civilization Part II" of Ozzy cooking bacon in his pajamas. Seemed to me he cooked up about a pound of it.
