RIP Ryan Dunn

Maybe he was screaming "FASTER" to, it's all presumptions and we'll never know.

Stupid hurts.

Not enough. And not often enough.

Jackass, hmm??? ...appropriate.

I lost a friend to a drunk driver in 1987, he ran through a stoplight going 70+ miles an hour and killed my friend, put his g/f in the hospital for weeks...and WALKED AWAY from the wreck.

Worse yet, he went to court on the charges, and got his license revoked permanently and "time served" (he was in jail for a day) for punishment.

I have no sympathy for drunk drivers that are harmed or killed, only for the innocents they leave behind in their wake of stupidity and destruction.

I'm GLAD this guy is out. He didn't deserve to breath the air sensible people do. I'm very sorry for his passenger, however.

Some will never learn. He had a prior DUI accident and other speeding charges in his past so you cant feel sorry for him. The other guy should of never got in that car but was tanked like him I'm sure. Thank God they didnt take out some innocent family returning from a picnic like that just happened here in my area last week.

I had a very good friend years ago great guy until he drank. We wrassled his keys away one night when he tried to drive so drunk he couldnt walk. A week latter he totaled out and walked away from a Trans-Am he worked and saved years for..drunk again.
A couple years latter, a few days after we spoke he was killed while driving home drunk form a St. Patrick's day party. He hit a guardrail, was thrown and the truck landed on him..he was 22 years old. Some never learn...here was another case.

I don't know...I have a hard time piling on a guy who died from his own misdeeds. I mean, he's dead...he's already paid for his wrongs. He can't even hear or read anything that is said, or typed, for that manner. But his family can.

I have a little brother who is extremely hardheaded... I just dropped him off at court this morning for his DUI. Hopefully he learns to change his ways; if he doesn't, and ends up killing himself on the road, I'd be quite distressed, and raging mad if I heard these kinds of things said about him. So RIP from me. And condolences to the family.

MT, I hope your brother figures it out.

As for "piling on", well, if drunk drivers only hurt themselves, I'd agree 1000%. Unfortunately, this is a choice which USUALLY manages to affect others, that had no part in the decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle impaired. As such, calling it out for the STUPIDITY it is is warranted, IMO.

Again, I really really hope your brother gets right about this...

Thanks Gard :)

He seems to be thinking things through a lot more these days...for instance he had a show last Friday night in Glendale (about 35 minutes from me, and 40 minutes from him). He called me at work and asked if I could look up the hotels that are walking distance from the venue. This don't sound like much, but the Paul I know would perform his set, hang around and party til 3am, and then try to drive home and end up somewhere 50 miles in the opposite direction. :rollno:

Part of this stuff is because of his brain damage, but a lot of it is general hardheadedness :D

As far as calling out the stupidity of drunk drivers, no doubt it's warranted; postmortem, though, does more harm than good from where I'm sitting. No doubt my experiences color my perspective on this situation though...

I'm not defending drink-driving in any way, but I'm quite shocked at the sheer insensitivity shown by some people in this thread. Fact is that someone is dead. Someone who meant a lot to others, to family, to friends. Regardless of how he died, which I will admit was stupid, a family will mourn from that night onwards for the rest of their lives, and they have lost something irreplacable.
