Huge bummer to see that Steve Albini is reported dead after suffering a heart attack.

What an absolute legend in recording, writing, and performing. Today will be a day with lots of Shellac and TJL playing...

Man, this is sad news. I know he liked to minimize his role in production, calling himself a "recordist" at times. Nevertheless, he had a huge impact on the sound of many great albums, particularly in the late '80s and early '90s. RIP to a Chicago legend.

Man, this one hurts. He was a polarizing figure but recognized his missteps when he was younger and was turning into the sage of the independents. Damn, this really sucks.

Cannot understate his impact. Even if you don’t know anything he played in or produced if you have bought or streamed music or seen a concert other than maybe a piano/singer jazz duet your taste has been influenced by Albini directly or indirectly. Unspeakable loss.

Sold all my Albini vinyl this winter as it's not my cuppa tea anymore, but the man cut a wide swath of influence in his life. Undeniable.

(Also undeniable: I'll be 61 in about a month and there's about 25 pounds too much of me. I better get after that.)
